Arrival Day

From your home town you will fly on Alaska Airlines or Delta to Ketchikan, Alaska. When you land in Ketchikan the Island Air Express check in desk is right next to baggage claim. Island Air Express allows one carry on and one checked bag under 40 pounds. The very scenic island flight is a short 30-minute flight to Klawock.

We will be there to welcome you to Prince of Wales Island when you arrive at the Klawock airport and then head to Craig which is just a few minutes away. When in Craig we can stop at the local grocery store, liquor store and pharmacy to pick up any items needed for your stay.

From there we will get you checked into your lodging and go over the details for the next day, gather your fishing licenses and answer any questions you may have.

Once settled in you are welcome to head down to the dock and check out the boats, try on your (provided) Grundens rain gear and boots to make sure you will be comfortable while fishing.

Day 1- Fishing Adventure!

The boat leaves the dock at 6:00 a.m. sharp so we ask for you to be at the dock about 5:40 a.m. or earlier to get your (provided) rain gear and rubber boots on, grab a cup of coffee for the ride out to the fishing grounds. Half way through the day we can pull into a cove turn off the boat and have the deli style lunch provided while taking in wild Alaska. If everyone is hard core and wants to eat while fishing we are game for that as well. It’s your trip and we want you to have the best time possible while fishing with us!

We will also have a cooler up front with pop, and water and always have a thermos of coffee in the cabin for you each day. After a full day of fishing we will return to the dock around 3:30 – 4:00 p.m. Some days we might leave the dock earlier due to weather or the fishing/tides and of course we will return a little earlier.

After returning to the dock we can take more photos of your fish and you can head back to the cabins or hotel to relax and have a nice evening while we take care of the processing of your fish.

Day 2- Fishing Adventure!

Day two is very much like the first day of fishing with good scenery and another adventurous day on the water!

Day 3 -Fishing Adventure!

We will head out for another exciting day of fishing and have a great day with lots of laughs!

On the third evening you are welcome to join us for a dinner on the dock where one of our Captain’s wife, Di Thain provides dinner for all the guests and other Charter Captains. Small donations are appreciated to help with the local school sports teams which the local captains and fish processor coach. This helps fly the kids to their games and matches to Ketchikan and other areas which allows the students to compete and play school sports. You are not required to donate but any donations are very much appreciated! This makes for a great time to relax have a glass of wine and tell about the big fish story with all the other guests. Great people and great comradery and makes for a great finish to your last day of fishing.

Departure Morning

After three days of fishing and a good night rest we will pick you up at 9:00 a.m. sharp and head to the airport. Most of our client’s flights leave at 10:00 a.m. and are about 30 minutes in length to Ketchikan. When you arrive in Ketchikan you will pick up your fish boxes curb side. Your fish boxes will have your name, address and flight numbers on them. If you have a later flight out of Ketchikan your fish will be stored by Aero Services in their walk-in freezer at the airport to ensure your prized catch is well taken care of. If you do have a later or next day flight out of Ketchikan you will want to double check with Island air Express and Aero Services to confirm your fish is stored in their freezer and everything is scheduled on time for your flight home. Thank you for spending your Alaskan fishing vacation with us!
