Craig Alaska Fishing Lodge

What to Expect:

Before packing for your adventure in Craig, Alaska, we strongly urge you to bring as little as possible. The goal is to bring only what will fit into a “carry on” piece of luggage. Check the airline for carry on standards before your travel. By only bringing a carry on you will be able to bring more fish home as checked luggage.

Bring only what you need:

Necessary items like a camera, sunscreen, sunglasses, as well as warm layered clothing, a lightweight jacket, sweater. Long underwear, gloves and a stocking hat are not always necessary, but you may need them depending on the weather during your stay with us. Other than that, we provide all the necessary fishing gear and equipment, including boots and rain gear. Before your trip up we will ask for your rain gear and boot sizes. Your gear will be waiting for you when you arrive.
Travel to the Lodge

Travel to the lodge is a 1 hour and 40 min flight out of Seattle, WA to Ketchikan Alaska via Alaska Airlines or Delta.

Arriving in Ketchikan you will then check in with Island Air and board a Cessna “950” Grand Caravan aircraft for a scenic 25-35-minute flight to Prince of Wales Island where we will be there to greet you.

From the Klawock Airport on Prince of Wales Island the lodge is a 25-minute drive along the water. On our way we are happy to stop at the grocery and liquor store to pick up any needed supplies for your stay with us.

Lodge Arrival

When you arrive at the Lodge you will be greeted by our friendly staff who will help you get settled. Once settled we will introduce the lodge staff, gather your fishing licenses, and answer any questions you may have for us. Then relax and enjoy an appetizer before dinner. After dinner take a minute to ensure your provided rain gear and boots fit well for the fishing day ahead! You are here now relax and enjoy!

 

Daily Itinerary

Each day looks the same from an itinerary point of view. But no two days are ever the same in Craig, Alaska. There is so much to see and experience and that is the adventure of it all!

  • 5:00 AM: Your wakeup call starts the day off right. While you prepare for the day, we’ll be making breakfast and getting the boats ready.
  • 5:15 AM: Enjoy a home-cooked breakfast topped off with hot coffee, water, and juice.
  • 5:35 AM: Head to the dock where the boats will be warmed up and ready to go at 5:45 am sharp.
  • 5:45 AM: Once departed, you will enjoy a for a full day of fishing. Lunch is served on the boat.
  • 3:30 PM: When we arrive back to the dock, there is an opportunity to take pictures of the days catch. The processing crew will then take care of your fish. You can head up the dock to the lodge and relax.
  • 4:30 PM: Enjoy appetizers at the lodge, enjoy our view around the campfire and share stories about the day on the water.
  • 6:00 PM: Dinner is served. Our typical menu includes: Fresh Salmon, Halibut, Steak, and potato dishes, salads, and a variety of vegetables. Dessert includes: Homemade chocolate cake, Hot Baked Blonde Brownies with Vanilla Ice cream, Fresh baked Pie, and fresh coffee.

Departure morning

We will have hot coffee, muffins, etc. available for you on your departure morning. We will leave the lodge 1 – 1/2 hours before your flight to be on time for your safe travel home. Our staff will have already delivered your fish to the Island Air to be on their first flight over to Ketchikan at 5:00 am. The fish is then placed in Aero Services freezer where you will pick it up curbside just outside the slider doors in front of your main airline carrier for its travel home.
